Our Brunello on Jancis Robinson

Il Marroneto 2009 Brunello di Montalcino

Mid ruby with broad orange-tinged rim. At first a little smoky and closed. Fluid palate that is still embryonic. Wonderful tannic grip and structure and balance. There is lots of concentration, but the fruit is still a little reluctant to come out. Elegance is key! (WS)

Il Marroneto, Ignaccio 2011 Rosso di Montalcino

Earthy and balsamic more than fruity. Supple ripe fruit with lovely length and quite serious, coating tannins. Can age, but already lovely to drink. (WS)

Il Marroneto at Barolo Brunello

For the first time, two excellences from the most fascinating areas in the world will meet at a very high level wine tasting session.

A selected group of Brunello di Montalcino and Barolo producers – two wines of worship – will meet, for the first time, in the beautiful rooms of Barolo Castle.

A unique event in the Italian panorama, it is intended for expert wine lovers and professionals, who will have the opportunity to compare two of the most famous Italian wines in the world.

The elective affinity and the uncontested differences among Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino represent, all along, a subject of fascination, discussion, and of intriguing parallelisms between the these two excellent Italian wines.
